Start with three dinner ideas
Open their ingredient lists, then check the fridge, freezer and cupboard for those items. A quick targeted check is easier to repeat than a complete kitchen audit.
Put anything you’d like to use in view, and look for a dinner that fits. Check its condition and storage instructions first.
Write the amount you can use
“Some rice” is a future guessing game. “About 150 g dry rice” gives you something to work with. Weigh it if the recipe needs a precise amount.
Keep forms clear: frozen spinach and fresh spinach aren’t automatically the same recipe quantity. And ask before assigning someone’s lunch ingredients to dinner.
Subtract before you shop
If your dinners need 500 g of rice and 150 g is available, you still need 350 g. If you buy a 500 g bag, remember the extra when you plan again.
Update only the ingredients that matter to the next few meals. The unopened cinnamon can live a quiet, untracked life.
